Help with Reading Documents

Papers and presentations on Cigital's site are available in a variety of formats. This list will provide you with the information and links you need to view these documents.

Hypertext

• With papers, this indicates there is an HTML version available, which can be viewed as a web page just by clicking on the link.
• Several PowerPoint presentations are available in HTML format, making them searchable and easily navigable through your browser.

PowerPoint

• Several presentations are available in their original PowerPoint format. They will need to be downloaded. If you have PowerPoint installed, you can view them in that, but if you do not, you can download the free Microsoft PowerPoint viewer for the PC.

Word

• Occasionally there will be a paper in Microsoft Word format. If you have Word installed, you can view it in that, but if you do not, you can download the free Microsoft Word viewer for the PC.

PostScript

• If you're new to PostScript, you may want to know "What is PostScript?" The answer here comes from a thorough introduction to PostScript.
• Almost all platforms (PC, UNIX, Mac, OS/2, etc.) can use Aladdin GhostScript. Most require multiple downloads, so follow the instructions on the above page.

Compressed PostScript

• UNIX users can download the file,

  uncompress filename

  , and then view it as listed above.
• PC users can use WinZip to uncompress the file, and then view it as above.

Adobe Acrobat (PDF)

• Users of almost any platform can download the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view Acrobat (.PDF) files.
